New Website Location!

Hi, everyone!  In the very near future, the Saturday Explorers website will be joining the Northern New England Down Syndrome Congress's (NNEDSC) new website, to make finding information about Down Syndrome events and resources in New Hampshire a "one-stop" deal!

As many of you know, this past year NNEDSC became a sponsor of Saturday Explorers, helping to fund some of the events that we have held.  Partnering with the NNEDSC has been a wonderful opportunity to connect with different families around the state, and to be a part of some of the events that the NNEDSC holds throughout the year.

In an effort to build greater connections within the Down Syndrome community in the state of New Hampshire, the NNEDSC has designed a new, up-to-date website, with links to many new Down Syndrome resources and programs that have come into existence in the last year.  Some new programs include the New Hampshire First Call Program for new and expectant parents, educational seminars for parents and educators, new fundraisers such as the annual golf tournament, and of course, Saturday Explorers!  We are so excited, and honored, to be included in this fantastic Down Syndrome network in New Hampshire!

So as a result of these changes, you can now look to the NNEDSC website for up-to-date Saturday Explorer information and events!  Our Facebook page will continue to run as usual, as it has become a great way to stay in touch and get local support!

The new NNEDSC website will launch in the very near future, so be sure to check back frequently for events, information, and resources!

2013 Updates!

Happy New Year, everyone!

2013 is proving to be a big year for the Northern New England Down Syndrome Congress and Saturday Explorers!  Saturday Explorers has passed its year anniversary since the group began, and we have connected with over 50 families who have young children with Down Syndrome in the state of New Hampshire!  It seems like every month we have at least one new face at our get-togethers, and we have had so much fun building friendships within our group.  So thank you to everyone who has participated, whether you have attended a playgroup, or simply joined our facebook group, it's been so nice getting to know you!  If you have not yet found us on facebook, please join us here: Saturday Explorers Facebook Page

The Northern New England Down Syndrome Congress also has a really exciting year ahead.  Currently, the NNEDSC is in the process of starting a First Call program, as a way to connect new and expectant parents with other parents of children with Down Syndrome.  This program has been extremely successful in the state of Massachusetts, and the MDSC is an integral part of getting this program up and running in New Hampshire!  In addition, a series of educational seminars geared toward parents, educators, and therapists will be starting in the spring!  These seminars will focus on the developmental profile of children with Down Syndrome, and will offer strategies for best helping children with Down Syndrome to learn.  These seminars will lead the way for the Learning Program to be implemented in NH, as is already established in Boston, which is based on Down Syndrome Education International principles.

In addition to the major programs coming to NH, the NNEDSC has several activities planned for the upcoming year also!  The second annual NNEDSC Golf Tournament is in the works for sometime in late spring, which was a blast last year, and is expected to be even bigger this year!  Keep your eye out for more information about this event!  The 2013 Buddy Walk is also in the planning process, and is scheduled for October 6, 2013 at Keach Park in Concord, NH.  While the committees for the walk have been formed, there is still a need for more volunteers!  If you are interested in helping out in some way, please email nnedsc@gmail.com

Lastly, the NNEDSC is currently updating its mailing list.  If you would like to continue to be a member, you MUST complete the online form, or the form that may be mailed to your home.  You can access the member registration form here: NNEDSC Membership Form.  You can also join the NNEDSC facebook page here: NNEDSC Facebook Page.

Thank you again for being a part of our group!  We hope to see you on one of our outings soon!
